Conservative nomination meeting postponed due to Malahat closure

The Conservative nomination meeting for Cowichan Malahat Langford has been postponed until Sunday as a result of a four-hour closure due to an accident on the Malahat on Saturday.

The meeting will decide the party’s candidate for the federal riding when voters go to the polls in October. The three people contesting the nomination are Martin Barker, Melissa Hailey and Jeremy Smyth.

The NDP, Liberals and Greens have had candidates in place for months as Alistair MacGregor is representing the New Democrats, Maria Manna is the Liberals’ selection and rounding out the group is Fran Hunt Jinnouchi of the Greens.

Sunday’s nomination meeting in Duncan starts at 1 with candidate speeches. The results should be known by 6.
