City of Duncan receives $2.6 million to boost housing development

Some new housing units are the way for Duncan as a part of a $2,600,000 deal with the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation.

Part of the three-year agreement will see the city of Duncan eliminate barriers to housing development and incentivize new investments in housing.

The 313 units promised will include high-density housing, missing middle housing and affordable housing for families and individuals.

“The funding will help the city complete housing initiatives and invest in infrastructure needed to support housing development and the community,” said Mayor Michelle Staples.

The city says they will look at implementing new design guidelines and streamlining the development application process in the coming months.

The funding comes from the CMHC Housing Accelerator Fund.
