North Cowichan is implementing Stage 3 Water restrictions following suit with the Cowichan Valley Regional District and the City of Duncan.
They say this aligns with the Province increasing the drought rating for East Vancouver Island to level 4.
The following rules are in effect under Stage 3 water restrictions:
- Conventional irrigation systems and sprinklers are not permitted
- Lawn watering is prohibited
- Filling pools & hot tubs are prohibited
- Hand watering or micro/drip irrigation only: Vegetable gardens and fruit trees are permitted to be watered 2hrs/day and ornamental trees, shrubs, and gardens permitted to be watered 1hr/day.
Outdoor watering can only be done before 9 am and after 7 pm. They ask to avoid peak consumption times by watering in the evening nighttime or early morning.
