The North Cowichan-Duncan RCMP arrested a 39-year old man in connection with a fire that may have been started deliberately on the weekend in the 300 block of Brae Rd in Duncan.
The Duncan Fire Department was called to the fire in a vacant lot just after 5 pm on Saturday, July 20, 2024.
RCMP media relations officer, Constable Julie Miller, says the fire quickly spread to a nearby detached garage.
She says witnesses provided a detailed description of a suspect, and police were able to locate the man and take him into custody.
The North Cowichan-Duncan RCMP released the man and will seek charge approval once all pertinent evidence has been analyzed.
