Police: Impaired Driving Awareness Month paying off

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP say Impaired Driving Awareness Month has been a success so far.

Cpl. Krista Hobday says several road checks at two locations led to about 2,500 vehicles being checked earlier this month.

She says it was a team effort that led to a 90-day ban, three separate three-day bans, a pair of short suspensions and several tickets being handed out to drivers.

Hobday says it was a costly evening for some motorists, but it’s only money, because the toll on a person that loses a family member to a drunk driver cannot be measured.
