No tsunamis or damage from series of small earthquakes

No tsunami is expected after a 5.1 magnitude earthquake just after noon today in the ocean off the coast of Alaska.

At 12:11 pm this afternoon the US Geological Survey recorded the earthquake, which happened in the southwest part of Cook Inlet at a depth of 107 kilometres. The quake epicentre was 67 kilometres southeast of Kokhanok, Alaska.

There were two other small earthquakes in the same region this morning, a 4.5 magnitude quake at 4:30 am and a 3.9 magnitude quake at around 7:30 am.

There was another small earthquake yesterday afternoon just before 2 pm. It happened in the middle of the southern Yukon, near Dawson at a depth of 1 kilometre. It was measured at 4.5 magnitude. There was no damage.
