The Nanaimo Ladysmith School Board is putting the brakes on plans to turn Cedar Seconday into an elementary school.
SD68 Board Chair Steve Rae says they’re starting a 90-day consultation period that will include the public and key stakeholders.
The decision is expected no later than mid-May.
Suspending the work at Cedar Secondary has freed up about 1.3 million dollars for upgrades at other schools.
At this point, no matter what’s decided, Woodbank Primary and North Cedar Intermediate will have to stay open next year.
