The NDP Ferries Critic says BC Ambulance shouldn’t be on the hook when they need to get BC Ferries to hold a sailing.
That’s a fairly common practice on Gulf Islands like Salt Spring and Gabriola.
But North Island MLA Claire Trevena says with charges sometimes hitting more than 26-hundred dollars it amounts to gouging.
Trevena says she’s still investigating the issue.

Ferries meanwhile has admitted it overcharged in some cases through an administrative misunderstanding and will pay some money back. Ferries also says it will give ambulances a 9 minute buffer before the charges kick in.
