North Cow needs sign off from BC Hydro for Stoney Hill Road work

The Municipality of North Cowichan has encountered a bump on the road in its’ multi-million dollar project on the Maple Bay Peninsula.
Mayor Jon Lefebure says repairing and realigning Stoney Hill Road can’t start until BC Hydro gives the green light.
Lefebure says BC Hydro has raised concerns over crossings of hydro distribution lines along the planned road alignment.
In addition, a recent council meeting saw Cowichan Tribes raise concerns about food gathering along the shoreline of Stoney Hill.
On that matter, Lefebure says the tribes are not opposed to the project as long as individual private docks were not allowed where properties were serviced by the new road.
