Cowichan Valley residents will not be getting the latest edition of a local newspaper on Wednesday because of a strike, according to the outlet’s publisher.
The union representing 12 employees at the Cowichan News Leader Pictorial and their employer, Black Press, held negotiations on Tuesday to end a work stoppage that is centred around wage structure.
As a result of the strike, the paper won’t be sending out 22,000 copies on Wednesday and perhaps another 24,000 on Friday.
Members of Unifor have been on the picket line since Monday morning.
