30,000 without power in Cowichan Valley & Duncan area

Thousands remain in the dark following a storm system that hammered the mid-island.
BC Hydro’s Karla Louwers says it’s the highest-impact storm so far this season.
Louwers says local crews are getting help from contractors and BC Hydro teams coming in from other parts of the Island.
She says there are lots of power lines down. If you see one, assume it’s live, stay at least 10 metres away and call 9-1-1. She says they hope to restore power overnight to the majority of customers.

**As of 5pm, the number of BC Hydro customers without power in the Cowichan Valley area had dropped to 25,000.**
