The heavy police presence continues in downtown Ottawa following this morning’s shootings.
Canadian Forces reservist Corporal Nathan Cirillo, 24, was gunned down as he stood guard at the National War Memorial. In a second incident on Parliament Hill a shooting suspect was killed and it’s still unclear if he was the only gunman.
At an earlier news briefing Assistant Commissioner Gilles Michaud would not say if the dead man was among the suspected radicals RCMP recently admitted they were tracking.
He did, however, say they had no advance warning of the incident.
Police say the situation remains “dynamic and unfolding”, and some buildings including Centre Block on Parliament Hill remain under lockdown.
