An impassioned response to the government’s throne speech has Cowichan Valley NDP MLA Bill Routley offering an apology to the Duncan Cowichan Chamber of Commerce.
Routley was criticizing the Liberals’ position on temporary foreign workers, saying doing more to get First Nations into the workforce is the right way to handle the labour and skills shortage and challenging the Chamber to do its part on that score.
It’s what Routley said next that has him in hot water. He used the words “snobs” and “clowns”; something he now says he deeply regrets.
In a statement issued late Friday, Routley says he’s already apologized to the Chamber and will make a public apology in the Legislature.
