A good portion of the bad smell that Chemainus residents have been complaining about is not coming from Coast Environmental Limited.
An eight-week study conducted by the CVRD shows the compositing company’s odours would only impact those living in a close proximity to the facility.
The mayor of the Municipality of North Cowichan, the community bordering Chemainus, is Jon Lefebure.
The study goes on to say other stench issues are caused by nearby farms and other sources.
