Stone slams UBCM ferry report

As local government leaders get ready to gather in Whistler, Transportation Minister Todd Stone is slamming a report they ordered on ferry fares and cuts.
Stone says the Union of BC Municipalities’ study “Boatswains to Bollards – A Socioeconomic Impact Analysis of BC Ferries” is speculative, inaccurate and lacking in ideas for improving the ferry service.
He also blasts the analysis as showing  “very little knowledge about the operation of ferry services.”
The report found cuts and fare increases on BC Ferries have cost the BC economy 2.3 billion dollars over the past decade.
UBCM delegates are expected to call for a return to 2013 service and fare levels during their AGM.
