CVRD endorses plan to hold more water in Cow Lake for dry season

The water levels in the Cowichan River are at a critical low point and as a result the CVRD board is taking the necessary steps to ensure a similar situation could be prevented in the future.

Chair Rob Hutchins says the board voted on Wednesday in favour of the Cowichan Basin Water Management Plan’s call to hold and/or access more water in Cowichan Lake.
He adds the water would be held during the winter and spring so the situation wouldn’t be so drastic during the summer and fall months when the valley becomes dry.
