RCMP are investigating the second threat against Nanaimo Regional General Hospital in as many days.
A bomb threat was reported at NRGH around 11:45 Wednesday morning. The all clear was given by 1pm.
RCMP say they traced the call to an area near the hospital and a 52 year old Nanaimo woman was arrested within the hour. She remains in police custody.
Police say at this time there is no apparent link between this incident and the threats made against the hospital yesterday.
In that case Nanaimo RCMP say they had a call from officials at NRGH just after 5, reporting threats and they decided to lock down the hospital.
A 39 year old man was arrested.
Sergeant Sheryl Armstrong speaks for Nanaimo RCMP. She says for now they’re not revealing the nature of the threats.
Armstrong says no one was allowed to enter or leave during the lock down, although ambulances were given access to the ER. It’s not clear yet what, if any, charges the man will face.
