Two Vancouver Island-based pharmacies will be offering rapid HIV tests as part of a provincial pilot program.
A medical health officer with Island Health, Paul Hasselback, says a pharmacy in Nanaimo started offering tests on Monday while another in Victoria will launch at the end of the month.
He adds there are several benefits to the program.
According to Island Health, it’s estimated that there are 35 hundred people in B.C. who are living with HIV but don’t know it.
