Investigators with the Transportation Safety Board are interviewing witnesses as they try to find out what caused a plane to nose-dive into a golf course fairway near Nanaimo.
Two people were killed when the kit-built aircraft went down Saturday evening, shortly after taking off from the Nanaimo Airport.
The TSB’s Bill Yearwood says they’re looking at the wreckage to determine whether malfunctioning equipment caused the crash.
The Avid amphibian was built as a joint project by the men who were killed: 73 year-old Michael Weir of Salt Spring Island and 50 year-old Gerald Thom of Youbou.
