The federal government is putting up just over a million dollars for improvements at the Nanaimo Airport.
Federal Transportation Minister Lisa Raitt was at the airport on Tuesday for the announcement, one of several stops she’s making on a visit to BC.
Airport President and CEO Mike Hooper says they’ll be using the more than $1.3 million to buy a couple of key pieces of equipment.
The money comes through Transport Canada’s Airports Capital Assistance Program, which has provided around $3-million for safety upgrades at the Nanaimo Airport over the years.
