The University Village Local Area Plan is moving ahead after weeks of uncertainty and debate by the Municipality of North Cowichan.
Mayor Jon Lefebure says there was a breakthrough at yesterday’s council meeting as a result of this motion.
Lefebure says the vote ended up being 4-3 in favour of moving the north boundary containment area up to the dike on Beverley Street, which takes in an additional 40 acres of land.
He adds a consultant will now revise the plan which will then be discussed again in early September and possibly presented at a public meeting after.
