14 firefighters from two local departments and three from B.C. Forest Service battled a blaze yesterday in the Sahtlam area.
According to a report, eight from the Sahtlam Volunteer Fire Rescue and six from the Lake Cowichan Fire Department joined the B.C.Forest Service members in a five-hour battle against a one-hectare fire.
Two trucks and three tenders were used to combat the fire and the firefighters had to deal with 34 degree temperatures as well as a hill with trees and stumps.
