The 2018 B.C. Summer Games is coming to the Cowichan Valley and boast the most private sports venues ever used for the games.
Independent and private schools have opened their doors to help with the four-day event and while there are a core group of events in Duncan, the surrounding communities are a huge part of the games.
Games President, Jennifer Woike says the region’s hosting of these games can be used to promote tourism or relocation.
Woike says the board of directors has been working for ten months to make this event as successful as possible.
Three thousand volunteers are needed to make this event successful and starting in January, the public can go online to register.
Volunteer registration opens in January and the event organizers will have a booth set up at the Hometown Hockey event on January 20 and 21.
The event features 18 sports in 23 venues all throughout the region, including Beach Volleyball in Ladysmith, Girls Rugby at Shawnigan Lake School, Triathlon events at Brentwood School, and Tow Watersports in Lake Cowichan.
