Most people who live in Cowichan Bay have a direct attachment to the community and many of them are retired.
That’s according to a Perception Poll conducted in the community over the past couple of months.
Of those who have moved to the community, the poll shows they didn’t come for job opportunities.
The poll also asked residents what their concerns were.
90 per cent were concerned about the estuary, declining salmon stocks, the deterioration of marshlands and floodplains, diking and the urbanization of the area.
