Saltair residents were recently faced with aggressive petitioners, who were asking for signatures regarding maintenance costs at the local community centre.
An engineering company quoted that it would cost three million dollars to make the Saltair Community Centre “like-new.”
Area G Director, Mel Dorey says contrary to what the petitioners are saying, the price-tag is a fraction of that cost estimate.
Dorey says the C.V.R.D. is going to conduct necessary repairs, to make the building functional.
While the group was telling people the cost was in the ballpark of three million dollars, the real cost of the repairs will be between $100,000 and $200,000 dollars.
The money would come from gas tax grants, and local coffers, but there wouldn’t be an increase to taxpayers.
