No charges laid in "Bear" case

The RCMP will not be recommending charges to Crown in the case of Bear the Dog.

It was alleged Bear was stolen from a Duncan home in February after he was discovered by a Chemainus man who felt the dog was being neglected.

Cpl. Krista Hobday from the North Cowichan-Duncan detachment says RCMP made several attempts to collect a statement from the dog’s owner, but the owner did not cooperate, which means charges cannot be recommended to crown, however…

 

The story of “Bear the Dog” made headlines after he was allegedly stolen from a home in Duncan after Facebook photos showing the dog surrounded by poor conditions began to circulate.
