Calls for service continue to increase for North Cowichan Duncan RCMP.
Staff Sgt. Chris Bear says 5,384 calls for service were received from April to June this year.
Bear says the detachment has been strongly focusing on their prolific offender management program. He says this deals with repeat offenders well known to police, priority offenders who may be up and coming in the community, as well as transient offenders.
Approximately a quarter of these calls responded to were in the City of Duncan.
Bear says the detachment will require additional resources to manage the ongoing increase in calls for service. The detachment currently has a total of 59 RCMP officer working when at full strength.
