As thousands of people are evacuated in Interior BC due to wildfires, it’s a good time to prepare your household for any emergencies.
Sybille Sanderson, Emergency Program Coordinator with the CVRD says in the instance of an evacuation alert or order the first thing you need to do is identify where all members of your family are. She says it’s important to be prepared, as there is very little time.
She recommends having at least half a tank of gas in your vehicle at all times, and also take note of how you can help others in your neighbourhood in case of an emergency.
Sanderson says with the Trans Canada Highway being the main route through our communities, it’s important for everyone to be aware of evacuation alerts and orders.
