The Cowichan Valley Regional District says public safety is a top priority when it comes to vicious dogs.
Manager of Bylaw Enforcement Rob Blackmore says they recently dealt with a pair of incidents in Shawnigan Lake involving a dog that was declared vicious in 2013.
The owner was fined two municipal tickets with fines of 500-dollars each. The owner also signed an agreement to fix the fence where the dog escapes, and keep it muzzled when it’s in public.
Blackmore says they are currently reviewing their dog regulation bylaw to prevent incidents like this in the future.
