BC Ferries to release final reduced schedules

Gabriola Island already knows what to expect when BC Ferries releases the final reduced schedules on Monday.

Gabriola FAC Chair John Hodgkins says BC Ferries sent them a final draft, and they’ve posted it online at GabriolaFAC.com

He says they’ve been able to preserve the late night sailings, which many people were concerned about, by creating a gap in the middle of the day. The last ferry to Gabriola will leave at 10:30 on Sundays and 11:05 during the rest of the week.

They’ve also been able to add a mid-day sailing for 11 weeks during the peak summer period.

He says they’ll watch carefully over the next 6 months to see if there are other small adjustments that can help overcome some of the inevitable problems.
