Gas prices are climbing to a two-year high and may go even further. In Victoria the price of a litre of gas is up today to a dollar 42-9. So far, it’s holding steady in the Cowichan at one 29-9 but that is up 20 cents from the beginning of the year. Last May the price of a litre of gas in the Cowichan hit one 35-9. Vancouver is currently paying a dollar 49 a litre, which is 20-cents higher than the beginning of the year. The Bank of Montreal’s Chief Economist says it’s in part due to the rising cost of crude oil, but prices are also getting a boost from the amount of people driving now that summer is approaching.
