It is expected a refined University Village Local Area Plan will land on Council tables in North Cowichan and Duncan by this June.

Green admits the land in the development plan is a flood plain….
As part of the work to come up with a Local Area Plan for the University Village, officials have also been listening to public suggestions to improve the safety of the Highway between Boys Road and Beverly Street.
There are some proposals on the table and Green says they include improving the east to west movement for pedestrians with more crosswalks.
He says there is also a plan in the works to get pedestrians and cyclists going from north to south in Duncan off the highway altogether…..
Today (Mon), the final public open house on the Plan will be held at Alexander Elementary School on Beverly Street from 4 to 7.
