April is Daffodil Month for the Canadian Cancer Society.
Much like the Royal Canadian Legion’s poppy drive, volunteers hit the streets selling small daffodils for people to pin on their chests. The proceeds raised from the sale go towards the fight against cancer.
But, do you know how the campaign came to be?
Debi Dempsey with the Canadian Cancer Society says it all started 50-years ago over a tea…

From there it bloomed into what is now called Daffodil Month. Dempsey says in 2000 the Daffodil was adopted as the Canadian cancer Society’s official  logo.
The campaign is one of the bigger ones for the Canadian Cancer Society. Last year they were able raise more than $380,000.
