A couple incidents of the choking game at Cowichan Valley schools have teachers and parents on high alert. Superintendent Rod Allen says they have reports of two separate incidents.
Allen says parents and the students involved have been spoken to, and there have been no further incidents since.
The choking incidents involve students trying to cut off their own airways until they pass out.
The Board says the homeless camping situation near the district office and Cowichan Secondary’s main campus is being managed well. Allen says the actions they have taken have proved effective in keeping students safe.
He says however, the widespread problem of drug use in the community remains a concern, especially for local youth.
Supervisors continue to patrol the route between campuses during lunch time.
