A boil water advisory is in effect for the community of Chemainus.
North Cowichan made the call Friday morning as a precaution due to turbidity, which poses a risk to public health.
Chemainus water users should boil their water for at least one minute before drinking, cooking or brushing teeth. It is still safe to use for bathing and washing clothes.
There is no word yet on when the advisory will be lifted.
