World Record Attempt at Cowichan Lake

Swim for Peace is an event at Cowichan Lake this weekend, where Victoria swimmer Susan Simmons will attempt to break a world record for longest swim in a lake.
She is hoping to swim over 105 kilometres unassisted – a journey that is expected to take about 50 hours. Simmons was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis 20 years ago, and was told not to exercise. A decade later, as her condition continued to worsen, she started swimming.
Simmons hopes her swim will raise awareness for people living with MS – and encourage them to get up and stay active.
