Vancouver Island businesses are asked to keep their eyes peeled – especially when making cash transaction with 50 or 100 dollar bank notes.
North Cowichan- Duncan RCMP have received reports of a suspect attempting to use fake bills to pay for retail goods at Canadian Tire and Home Depot.
Corporal Krista Hobday says staff dealing with cash should by wary, and always follow protocol when accepting bank notes of large value.
Hobday says similar incident were reported from Victoria to Shawnigan Lake. One possible suspect is described as an adult Middle Eastern man, with dark complexion and facial hair. He is about 5-foot-10 with a medium build. RCMP say he may be working with others or trying to change his appearance to avoid detection.
