The BC SPCA’s Cruisin’ for Change event on Sunday wraps up with a show and shine at the Cowichan Sportsplex, along with some live music and a barbecue.
The event aims to raise money and support against animal cruelty, and help with the care costs for sheltered animals. Erika Paul, the BCSPCA senior animal protection and outreach officer, says that animal welfare issues can be directly linked to animal behaviour.
Paul wants local governments to revisit current animal control legislation and implement bylaws surrounding animal care.
The funds raised from the event will go towards supporting animal cruelty enforcement by BC SPCA special provincial constables, and helping with the costs of caring for sheltered animals.
