One Dog Near Dead After Being Left in Vehicle

Another urgent reminder to be aware of how you transport your pets, and the dangers of leaving them in a hot vehicle.
North Cowichan Duncan RCMP were called to two dogs in distress on June 4th, when outside temperatures had reached 30 degrees. The owner had left the windows down approximately 6-inches, but both dogs were still in obvious distress.
Corporal Krista Hobday says after the rescue, the vet determined one of the dogs was near death.
There is an ongoing investigation regarding possible charges against the owner.
RCMP ask people who may want to report an animal in distress to call the SPCA first, as they can help you assess the well being of the animal over the phone. If this SPCA is not available, call the RCMP non-emergency line ans ask a police officer to attend.
