Local Reaction to Federal Budget

There was a high expectation for change in this year’s federal budget, but Cowichan-Malahat-Langford MP Alistair McGregor says he isn’t totally sold after taking a closer look at some of the details.
Some areas of disappointment include lack of funding for BC Ferries, First Nations and Employment Insurance.
McGregor also pointed out that while the budget include 2.6 billion dollars in First Nations funding over 5 years – most of that money won’t be seen until 2019 and 2020.
He adds that Canadians should be wary of the large deficit.
MacGregor is happy to see some relief for low income, single seniors, but says it’s not enough when seniors making over 84 hundred dollars won’t receive any help.
