A house fire just off the Malahat has left a family without a home before Christmas.
Malahat Fire Chief Rob Patterson says crews responded to the structure fire just after 4am today.
One person was reportedly taken to hospital for smoke inhillation, but no one else was injured in the blaze.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
